WASHINGTON, Mo. - Jason William Hahn, MD, recently joined Mercy Hospital Pain Management and Anesthesia, part of the anesthesia department at Mercy Hospital Washington, and Mercy Clinic Pain Management located at Mercy Medical Building North, 851 E. Fifth St., Suite 144 in Washington.
Dr. Hahn is from the St. Louis and Washington region and still has family in town. He earned his undergraduate and medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. His completed his fellowship in Anesthesiology Residency and Pain Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
“I am very excited to return to Washington and work hard to improve patients' lives in our community,” Dr. Hahn said. “I chose pain medicine because of its vast opportunity to make people feel better. Pain is a condition that’s potentially debilitating and can lead to significant reductions in function and quality of life. Many of the interventions and procedures performed in pain medicine can reverse these changes and significantly impact the lives of patients.”
As a pain specialist, Dr. Hahn can treat patients suffering from spinal narrowing, herniated discs, sciatica, degenerative back pain, facial pain, neck pain, spinal arthritis, spinal compression fractures, failed back surgery syndrome, pain after shingles, as well as many other conditions.
Dr. Hahn believes good communication with the patient and their family is key to a successful outcome. “I appreciate the input of concerned family members and make it a point to hear and understand their concerns,” he said. “I feel it is important for every patient and their family to truly understand the implications of their condition and treatment. Every discussion should revolve around mutually understood terminology, and I believe in answering any potential questions with factual but easily understood responses.”
A board-certified anesthesiologist, Dr. Hahn has been recognized with the Distinction in Research Award with Medical Doctorate, an Excellence in Teaching Award during residency and the Dr. H Steele & Judith Holley Award in Academic Anesthesiology upon graduation of residency.
“Dr. Hahn is a wonderful addition to our medical staff and the Four Rivers community,” said David Chalk, MD, president of Mercy Clinic Four Rivers. “The fact that he has Washington roots brings that extra sense of community commitment that Mercy is proud to provide for our patients.”
