ST. LOUIS - One Mercy patient has many reasons to be happy. Lisa Adkins is not only a breast cancer survivor after finishing chemotherapy and radiation treatments on June 2, but she won a trip to Aruba from HLN as part of the network’s 100 Days of Happy promotion.

On the last day of chemo, her daughter surprised her with a sign to hold up during the now famous picture. The sign reads “My last chemo 6/2/14.”

Several photos were snapped that day, including one with her husband and two daughters after ringing the bell at Mercy Clinic Oncology and Hematology celebrating her last chemo treatment.

“I was very lucky that I didn’t get sick or lose my hair,” Lisa said. “I’m blessed the treatment seems to have worked.”

Shortly after the photo was taken, Lisa recalled hearing the song "Happy" playing as she was getting ready one morning and learned about the HLN contest.

"I immediately thought of the picture we had just taken and thought finishing chemo and radiation was a real reason to be happy. So I entered the contest," she said.

She submitted her photo with the text “Celebrating my last chemo with my family makes me HAPPY! #mxphappytrip.”

Lisa was later contacted and surprised with the trip during a live, Skype interview with HLN Morning Express host Robin Meade.

"I basically forgot about it until they contacted me about being a finalist," Lisa said. "It was pretty exciting!"

Lisa and her husband, Mike, will travel to Aruba (known as "The Happy Island”) in January.
