It’s been a summer of new faces at Mercy clinics in Lebanon and Richland. Advanced practitioners Loren Smith and David Douglas have joined the teams, respectively.
David Douglas, PA-C, is now working alongside Dr. Karen Hopkins at Mercy Clinic Internal Medicine and Pediatrics – Richland. He received his surgical technology certificate from Ozarks Technical Community College (OTC) in 1991 and his Associate of Arts from Florida Community College in Jacksonville, Florida, in 2002. Douglas then received his Bachelor of Science-Physician Assistant Certificate from Stony Brook University in New York in 2004.
Douglas has worked in the medical field across Missouri for the last 22 years. He has volunteered for the Good Samaritan Free Clinic in Mountain View, served as physician assistant at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, and worked in the urgent care clinic at Burton Creek Medical in West Plains. He’s currently a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and licensed by the Missouri Board of the Healing Arts.

Loren Smith II, PA-C, is back in Lebanon and part of the team at Mercy Clinic Family Medicine – Lebanon. A North Central Texas College graduate, Smith later received his Associates of Applied Science from Cuyahoga Community College in Parma, Ohio. While there, he worked for Cleveland Clinic in general surgery and MedCentral Health System ER. He then received his master’s from A.T. Still University in Mesa, Arizona.
Smith moved to Missouri and spent two years at Family Health Associates in Lebanon, where he evaluated and treated patients for urgent and chronic health conditions, as well as performed surgical and diagnostic procedures. His next stop was Mercy Clinic Internal Medicine and Pediatrics – Richland, where he worked for nearly five years, also offering his assistance at Mercy’s urgent care in Lebanon for six years.
He now permanently joins Dr. Ronald D. Glas at Mercy Clinic Family Medicine – Lebanon, which offers complete primary care services for the entire family. It’s located at 331 Hospital Drive, Suite C, in Lebanon, Mo. To make an appointment, call (417) 533-6500.
