Mercy Hospital Ardmore expands its hospital medicine program with the addition of Dr. Girish Murthy, a board-certified internal medicine physician.
As a hospitalist, Murthy provides specialized care to hospital patients and often serves as their primary doctor during their hospital stay. For Murthy, a career in medicine runs in the family.
“My father is a gastroenterologist and, like him, I take a relaxed approach to make my patients as comfortable as possible while treating them,” he said.
Dr. Murthy grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas, and attended the University of Texas in Austin and Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, for his undergraduate and pre-medicine studies. He received his medical degree from Saint George’s University in the West Indies and completed his internal medicine residency at the Medical Center of Central Georgia/Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia, in 2012. He recently completed his infectious disease fellowship from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City.
Murthy currently commutes between Oklahoma City and Ardmore. In his free time, he enjoys running, working out and watching sports.
