Mercy Breast Center to Host Save-A-Life-Saturday

October 9, 2014

It’s a fact of life. Women have a long to-do list of family, home, work and activities. Sometimes taking care of their health gets pushed to the bottom of the list. Mercy Fort Smith wants to make it easier to mark off mammogram at a special “Save-a-life-Saturday” event during October’s breast cancer awareness month.

In a quick 15-minute appointment, women can take care of their annual screening. Appointments are available at the Mercy Breast Center inside the Mercy Medical Building at 7001 Rogers Avenue from 8am to noon on Saturday, October 25th.  If insurance doesnot already cover your mammogram, Mercy has programs in place to help uninsured or underinsured women get their screening.

“We are fortunate to live in a time when breast cancer caught in its earliest stages has a nearly 100% survival rate,” said Gina Null, APN and patient health navigator. “Since we know screenings save lives, we want to give women who find it hard to make an appointment during the week an opportunity to come in on the weekend.”

If Saturday, October 25th is not a convenient date, ladies may prefer to take advantage of some extended hours during the weekdays. To schedule an appointment for either the Save-a-life-Saturday event or a weekday call 479-314-7855.
