Mercy Fort Smith named Consumer Choice Award Winner

October 14, 2014

For the eleventh year in a row, Mercy Hospital Fort Smith has won the National Research Corporation Consumer Choice Award. The award identifies hospitals across the country that health care consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image.

“There’s nothing better than getting a pat on the back from the patients we serve,” said Ryan Gehrig, Mercy Fort Smith president. “This award really reflects the dedication of the more than 2,200 doctors, nurses and staff members who work each day to offer compassionate care and exceptional service to our community.”

Mercy Hospital Fort Smith is one of just 273 hospitals nationwide and three others in Arkansas – including Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers – that consumers have chosen as 2014/15 National Research Consumer Choice Award winners. Consumers in the Fort Smith market have ranked Mercy Hospital Fort Smith at the top of the list based on four essential consumer metrics:

•    Best Overall Quality

•    Best Image/Reputation

•    Best Doctors

•    Best Nurses

Winners are determined by consumer perceptions on multiple quality and image ratings collected in the company’s Market Insights survey, the largest online consumer health care survey in the country.

“The complexity of healthcare has urged consumers to play much more of an integral role in their care decisions, which in turn, is prompting hospitals and healthcare systems to lead a proactive approach to brand awareness,” said Brian Wynne, Vice President of Sales at National Research. “This year’s winners have done an exceptional job of representing their organizations in terms of high-quality care, improvement initiatives, and positive consumer perceptions and experiences.”

Not satisfied with eleven years of success earning this honor, Mercy plans to stay on top with many new and expanded services.  These include the just-opened Mercy Orthopedic Hospital, additional primary care availability with two new clinic locations opening in 2014, the expansion and relocation of sleep medicine services and a significant investment in lab technology and services.
