Mercy is once again racing into the holidays with Lebanon’s fourth annual Christmas in the Park celebration. Hundreds of people are expected at Atchley Park on Friday, Dec. 5. Many will lace up for Mercy Fitness Center – Lebanon’s 5K Fun Run/1 Mile Walk.
“Our goal is to simply be active and have some relaxed outdoor holiday fun,” said Taylor Knight, fitness center manager.
Registration is now underway for the run/walk, however, pre-registration is not necessary. You can sign up from 5-5:45 p.m., just before the run/walk, which starts at 6 p.m. The first 50 participants to check in the night of the race will receive a t-shirt.
“People of all ages and ability levels are welcome,” explained Knight. There is no entry fee, but be sure to bring a children’s book and a $5 donation to benefit the Laclede Literacy Council.
Christmas in the Park runs from 5-7 p.m. at Atchley Park, just off North Highway 5, next to the Church of the Nazarene. The fourth annual event will feature free horse-drawn hay rides by Shires for Hire, free hot dogs and hot cocoa, face painting, storytelling, Christmas caroling, treats from Nancy’s Cake Shop, a bounce house (weather permitting) and photos with Santa. The Lebanon Art Guild will also have items on display.
Last year, more than 300 people attended the City of Lebanon’s Christmas in the Park, with 50 taking part in the run/walk. Sponsors include the City of Lebanon Parks and Recreation Department, Mercy, the American Red Cross, Arvest Bank, Missouri Eagle, the Laclede Literacy Council and Graven Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram.
