ST. LOUIS – Mercy Hospital St. Louis, well known by women for maternity care, was recently recognized for its overall women’s health program by Becker's Hospital Review in the 2014 edition of its annual list, "100 hospitals with great women's health programs."
According to Becker's Hospital Review, the hospitals featured offer outstanding health services geared toward women, such as gynecology, obstetrics, women-focused heart care and women-focused cancer care, among other women's health needs. Becker's Hospital Review has published a version of this list annually since 2012.
“Caring for women has been part of our mission for more than 135 years, when the Sisters of Mercy founded Mercy Hospital St. Louis,” said Trish Geldbach, RN, vice president of women’s services at Mercy. “This recognition highlights the range of care we provide for women throughout their lives.”
The publication’s editorial team selected hospitals for inclusion based on clinical accolades and recognition for women's health excellence from various healthcare groups and agencies. Those agencies include U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CareChex and UNICEF's Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative.
