**Due to inclement weather, this course has been moved to Wednesday, March 25**
We all know exercise is good, but it can be tough to justify if it’s a source of great pain. That’s a reality for millions of Americans with diabetes.
“It’s normal to have fears about what’s safe and what’s not safe,” said Terri Brandel, director of Therapy Services at Mercy St. Francis Hospital. “Should it hurt? If it does, should you stop or push through the pain?” Brandel will answer common questions in an interactive workshop called Jump into Spring on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
“Either you move it or you lose it,” Brandel added. “That goes for patients with chronic illness, circulation problems or even joint pain. We’re going to go over general guidelines and parameters to follow so folks can get back to doing what they love."
The free workshop on March 25, part of Mercy St. Francis Hospital’s diabetic education program, begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Sister’s Dining Room at Mercy St. Francis Hospital at 100 W. US Highway 60.
No RSVP is required, but you can sign up at the Mercy St. Francis business office or call 417-934-1700. For a free ride, call SMTS at 417-934-1575. Snacks and door prizes will be provided.
