YMCA and Mercy to offer free program on Stoke Awareness on May 6

WASHINGTON, Mo. - The Four Rivers Area Family YMCA and Mercy Four Rivers are offering a free community health education program as part of their monthly “Wake Up to Wellness” series. “Recognizing the signs and symptoms stroke: Think FASST,” will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, at the YMCA on Grand Avenue in Washington, Missouri. 

Bryan Menges, DO, Mercy Hospital Washington Emergency Medicine, and Theresa Briggs, Mercy Hospital Quality Improvement, will discuss what stroke is and how it affects the brain, the different types of stroke, who is most at risk, and treatment options available for stroke. Participants will also learn why FASST symptom recognition (Face, Arm, Speech, Sight, Time) is important.
