Some would say there must have been something in the air last winter. Dr. Bryan Roehl, Mercy OB/GYN in Ada, agrees with that theory.
Not only have births been up at Mercy Hospital Ada in the last several weeks, but twin births have reached a high with four sets of twins being delivered by Roehl in two months.
“Multiples count for about 1 in every 30 births in the United States, but I would say we see even less than that in the Ada area,” said Roehl. “Delivering four sets of twins in two months is very rare and has been exciting.”
The surge of twins started on July 21 when Kaybree and Kimber King were born to Crystal Keeney and Adrian King. The next set came on July 29 when Drs. Mindy T.S. Ahrend welcomed Hoyt and Vance Ahrend. Another set of twins, Dayzee and Zaiden Sibble, arrived on Aug. 23 to parents, Angelica and Dusty Sibble. The final set of tiwns, Warren and Laklyn Manuel, were welcomed by parents, Oliva and Brennon Manuel on Sept. 22.
Roehl is set to deliver eight sets of twins by the end of 2015, which is a first for him and may be his career high for multiples in a year.
