ST. LOUIS - Breast Reconstruction Awareness (BRA) Day is Oct. 21. It was established to educate breast cancer patients about breast reconstruction options at the time of diagnosis and emphasize the importance of consulting a plastic surgeon to discuss those options. A plastic surgeon’s role is to ensure the patient understands all her reconstructive options before treatment.
To close the loop on breast cancer, Michael Curtis, MD, and Mercy Clinic Plastic Surgery are hosting an educational event and wine-tasting BRA Day event from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct.21, at Mercy’s Clayton-Clarkson building. Patients are invited to learn more about breast reconstruction options following breast cancer surgery including proper bra support, nipple replacement tattooing, breast implants, regenerative soft tissue for surgery as well as therapy services.
