ST. LOUIS – It’s estimated 20 million – or one in 15 - Americans suffer from asthma. In St. Louis, children’s asthma rates are double the national average earning the 2009 title of Asthma Capital, the worst place in the U.S. to live with asthma.
Mercy Kids is hoping to help children and families struggling with asthma by offering a free Managing Asthma workshop from from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6, at Mercy Clinic Old Tesson, 12348 Old Tesson Rd., in South County.
The workshop is led by pediatric asthma educators who will teach self-management skills, triggers and how to avoid them and how to keep asthma under control. Participants will also learn about various medicines and devices as well as review their asthma action plan.
The workshop is free, but registration is required for both parent and child. Each child in attendance will receive an insulated bag to carry an inhaler and medications. Register online by clicking here.
