The holiday season is upon us, which makes it difficult to stick to our healthy eating and exercise routines. Constance Manion, a clinical and diabetes dietitian with the Certified Diabetes Education Program at Mercy Hospital Ada, offers some tips to enjoy the holidays without overindulging.
“It’s okay to enjoy your favorite treats this holiday, but try smaller portions and eat slowly so you don’t overeat,” she said. “After eating, take a walk and focus on time with your loved ones rather than a second helping of food. If you host a holiday gathering, offer a menu of low-calorie foods, such as fruits, vegetables and lean meats. Or, if you are a guest, bring a low-calorie dish to share with others.”
