Family Nurse Practitioner Joins Mercy in Branson

November 19, 2015

There’s a new face on the Mercy team in Branson. Anne “Betsy” Thomas, a family nurse practitioner and Missouri native, has joined Mercy Clinic Family Medicine – Branson.

“I’m very excited to be part of the Branson community – it’s where I’ve wanted to be,” said Thomas, a graduate of Saint Luke’s College of Health Sciences in Kansas City. She received her Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner from Graceland University in Independence, Missouri – but her career didn’t actually start in health care.

“I loved writing, so I followed that dream at first and pursued a career in journalism,” Thomas said. “While working at an advertising agency, I noticed that I was becoming more concerned about the wellness of my co-workers and clients who would show up sick. I felt called to become a nurse and help people, so I followed my faith, sold my car, moved back home and made the transition into health care.”

From there, Thomas began nursing classes at Saint Luke’s, where she later worked as a nurse, getting valuable experience in the operating and recovery rooms. At Mercy, she will be providing services at both Mercy Clinic Internal Medicine/Family Medicine – Branson and Mercy Urgent Care – Branson.

“I look forward to being part of a solid care team and meeting new patients,” said Thomas. “My husband and I absolutely love this area – whether it’s the lake, the Branson strip or just mingling with the nice people. We’re excited about this next chapter in our lives.”

Thomas is board certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and a member of the American Nurses Association and the Advanced Practice Nurses of the Ozarks.

Mercy Urgent Care – Branson and Mercy Clinic Internal Medicine/Family Medicine – Branson are located at 1065 State Highway 248 in Branson, Mo.
