Mercy’s Sister Roch Talks Nursing and Leadership

January 5, 2016

The January-February 2016 issue of Catholic Health Association’s Health Progress is out and one article, Nurses as Leaders, dissects the national trend in health care to hire nurses for top leadership jobs.

While it may be new to some organizations, it’s not a new concept for Catholic health care where nurses – many of them women from religious orders – were at the helm even before it was common for women to be lead.

One of those nursing leaders, Sister Mary Roch Rocklage, RSM, is featured in the article and talks about her on-the-job training after earning her master’s degree in health administration in the 1960s.
