As the presenting sponsor of the KTTS broadcast of the St. Jude Radiothon, Mercy Kids is throwing open its doors on Friday, Feb. 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. and welcoming kids of all ages to come in for a little fun.
Get a check-up for your teddy bear or favorite stuffed animal, meet Louie from the Springfield Cardinals and Boomer from Missouri State University (MSU). Kids can learn about sports safety while tossing the ball around with MSU athletes, cheerleaders and the Sugar Bears. The Home Depot will also have projects the kids can complete and take home.
“While our dozens of local specialists treat all kinds of conditions and illnesses in children – including cancer – we’d like for kids to come check out our hospital before they need us,” said Dr. Kyle John, psychiatrist and medical director of Mercy Pediatric Behavioral Health Services. “Knowing what to expect before they walk in the doors can relieve a lot of anxiety. This open house is a perfect opportunity to experience all the ways we’ve designed the space to be fun for kids.”
