Five Mercy providers were recognized by the Joplin Regional Business Journal on March 31st at the annual Salute to Health Care dinner.
Mercy providers honored include:
Lifetime Achievement: Francis Corcoran, MD, Mercy Clinic Joplin Cardiology
Physicians: James Hoff, MD, Mercy Clinic Joplin Cardiology; Stephen Meyer, MD, Mercy Clinic Joplin Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery; and John Wu, MD, Mercy Clinic Joplin Gastroenterology
Physical Therapist: Kathy Bartley, PT, DPT, Mercy Joplin
Since 2011, Joplin Regional Business Journal has sponsored the event. According to David Mink, JBRJ Editor, “It is a way for us to recognize and honor the unsung heroes of the health care world.”
Each year, 16 individuals are honored. Three individuals in each of five categories are recognized, plus one individual is honored for lifetime achievement. Categories rotate from year to year, but recurring every year are “Top Doctor” and “Top Nurse” categories.
Recipients are judged first and foremost for excellence in health care. Judges also reviewed the candidate’s educational background, work experience, commitment to his or her field through certifications, plus publications and other recognitions. Additionally, honorees typically have strong records of service to community and philanthropic work. Nominees who possess and display a commitment to their community through volunteering and charitable service are almost always more likely to earn recognitions.
