Mission: Save Lives

Mercy Hospital St. Louis was recently recognized as a 2016 Mission: Lifeline ® Receiving Center GOLD Recognition Award recipient, thanks to the work of Mercy Clinic cardiologists. The honor puts Mercy in an elite group of hospitals recognized by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for quality heart attack care. It recognizes success in implementing a high quality care STEMI (ST-elevation myocardial infarction) program that treats patients according to nationally accepted guidelines.

“This award from the American Heart Association is only the latest recognition of our successful multi-year process to rework how we deliver care for STEMI patients,” said Dr. Tim Schloss, Mercy Clinic cardiologist and section chief of interventional cardiovascular medicine, and STEMI medical director of Mercy Hospital St. Louis. “Thanks to the incredible dedication and coordination of our cardiovascular team and emergency personnel, we’re providing faster care for heart attack patients which translates to better patient outcomes and more lives saved.”

Mercy Hospital St. Louis achieved 85 percent or higher on all Mission: Lifeline ® STEMI Receiving Center Performance Achievement Indicators for consecutive 24-month intervals and 75 percent or higher or higher compliance on all Mission: Lifeline ® STEMI Receiving Center quality measures to improve the quality of care for STEMI patients.
