Lebanon Native Comes Home to Provide Health Care

July 18, 2016

For Katie Becker, being a nurse practitioner is a little like returning home to the family business.

“I was born and raised in Lebanon,” she said. “I decided I wanted to be a nurse while I was still in high school. Having a grandmother and an aunt who were both nurses, I understood the highlights and challenges. Now that I’m a nurse, I’ve realized the joy that comes from serving others.”

Becker has been working in Rolla, Missouri, for the past several years. When she got the opportunity to practice in Lebanon, she jumped at the chance. “I am beyond excited that I’m now able to work among friends and family in my own hometown,” she said. “I love getting to know my patients and their families.”

When she isn’t in the clinic, you might find Becker and her husband, Jimmy, working on building an experimental aircraft. “Most of my help has been limited to the creation of the seats and cheering him on,” she laughed. “But I did recently learn how to rivet, and how to fix the dents I made with the rivet gun!”

While she may take to the skies soon in that airplane, Becker’s feet are firmly planted in Lebanon. “Being from here emphasizes that every patient is someone’s parent, grandparent or child and deserves the same level of care and compassion I would give my own loved ones.”
