Growing older can be challenging. Aside from physical changes, it can bring a higher risk of depression, anxiety or stress – but there’s a team at Mercy Hospital Cassville who can step in to help.
Senior Life Solutions, a hospital-based, intensive outpatient therapy program, is hosting an open house on Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 4 to 6 p.m. It will be held in the main conference room at the hospital, located at 94 Main Street, with tours of the program’s department, and information available about the services offered for patients ages 65 and older.
“We are a lifeline for seniors who are transitioning through their lives, as well as their families who are hoping to help them,” said Susan Poehling, program director. Her team also includes a board-certified psychiatrist, as well as a licensed therapist, who partner with other local providers.
Dr. Tamon Paige, who serves as medical director, will then provide a free presentation at 5:30 p.m. about late life depression.
“Many people don’t fully understand how important this topic is, not only for those impacted, but their caregivers,” Poehling said. “We’re going to offer some great resources and useful knowledge, and hope to help even more people in Cassville and the surrounding communities.”
