Mercy Hospital Washington Earns 2016 Leapfrog Top Hospital Award

December 6, 2016

WASHINGTON, Mo. – The Leapfrog Group named Mercy Hospital Washington a Top Hospital, one of only 115 hospitals across the country. Acknowledged as one of the most prestigious distinctions a hospital in the U.S. can receive, the recognition reflects Mercy’s commitment to providing the safest, highest quality patient care.

“Our physicians and co-workers strive every day to provide the best care to our patients,” said Eric Eoloff, Mercy Hospital Washington president. “The Leapfrog recognition is proof of their hard work and dedication to keep our patients safe and to provide excellent health care.”

Mercy Hospital Washington received a Top General Hospital distinction and was one of only 115 hospitals recognized from hospitals participating in The Leapfrog Group’s annual survey. The list includes:

  • 56 Top General Hospitals
  • 21 Top Rural Hospitals
  • 62 Top Urban Hospitals
  • 9 Top Children’s Hospitals

The selection is based on the results of the 2016 Leapfrog Hospital Survey. Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care and a hospital’s ability to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.

“Being acknowledged as a Top Hospital is an incredible feat achieved by less than three percent of hospitals nationwide,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “With this honor, Mercy Hospital Washington has established its commitment to safer and higher quality care. Providing this level of care to patients in Washington requires motivation and drive from every team member. I congratulate the board, staff and clinicians, whose efforts made this honor possible.”
