Guthrie Installs Eight More Telemedicine Rooms

Mercy Hospital Logan County now has 20 patient rooms dedicated to telemedicine, giving patients easier access to specialists and more doctors. 

The equipment, which involes two-way audio and video technology, was first installed at Mercy Hospital Logan County in 2015. Telemedicine-dedicated physicians see patients remotely, which help frees up other providers. 

“Our nurses are able to see and take care of patients while myself and other physicians focus on different patients,” said Dr. Lufkin, a telemedicine hospitals at Mercy Hospital Logan County. “It allows faster treatment and results.”

Used alongside Mercy’s comprehensive electronic health record system, physicians and specialists across Mercy’s four-state region can access vital patient information including lab work, medications and health history for diagnosis and treatment.

This month, Guthrie installed eight additional telemdicine rooms for patients, bringing the total number of telemedicine rooms at Mercy Hospital Logan County to 20.
