Another Successful Mercy Kids Carnival

July 27, 2017

For the 7th year, Mercy opened its plaza to nearly 800 Mercy Kids including patients, families and children of co-workers at Mercy Children’s Hospital. The carnival is one of many celebrations honoring the patients, families and caregivers helped by the annual Benefit for Mercy Kids dinner auction. Proceeds from auction go toward programs at Mercy Children’s Hospital supporting pediatric needs on site and in the community.

The carnival events are planned by Mercy’s teen volunteer group, Teens Learning in the Community (TLC). TLC combines education and service by offering high school and college-age students, 16 years and older, interested in a health care career an opportunity to learn more about different options in the field. It fosters a commitment to volunteering, offers valuable insight into a variety of health care professions and experience in multiple areas of the hospital.

Kids had fun with traditional carnival games such as ring toss, bean bag toss, plush pig races, duck pond and others along with a photo booth, caricature artist, a DJ and activities provided by Home Depot.

The Mercy Kids Crew provided free bike helmets with fittings.
