Longtime Mercy Surgeon Makes Miraculous Recovery After Falling From Bluff

December 16, 2017

With one major fall, Dr. Thomas Reichers went from general surgeon to Mercy patient. He suffered a potentially life-changing stumble from a bluff; today, he's living proof of the incredible, collaborative care that Mercy's teams provide.

This holiday season, Dr. Reichers shares his story of a miraculous recovery - from the Mercy emergency room to rehabilitation with the Mercy Sports Medicine team.

Mercy, named one of the top five large U.S. health systems in 2017 by Truven, an IBM Watson Health company, serves millions annually. Mercy includes 44 acute care and specialty (heart, children’s, orthopedic and rehab) hospitals, more than 700 physician practices and outpatient facilities, 40,000 co-workers and more than 2,000 Mercy Clinic physicians in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
