FORT SMITH, Ark. – For more than 20 years, Dr. Karen Merle has been energized by caring for patients of all ages as a primary care physician.
Now the longtime Fort Smith doctor has brought that enthusiasm to Mercy Clinic Internal Medicine and Pediatrics on Dallas Street.
“I love the Mercy motto of truly caring for patients,” she said. “I am very passionate about my patients and look forward to taking care of them and making sure they are comfortable, healthy and have the best quality of life.”
While growing up in Wichita, Kansas, with her parents and three sisters, Dr. Merle was fascinated by science and people. She combined those two interests into a health care career. She graduated with a medical degree from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, where she also completed an internal medicine and pediatrics residency. She is board certified in both specialties.
Her connection to Kansas includes being an avid KU basketball fan, but she enjoys living in Fort Smith with her husband and four children, doing CrossFit and working with Drs. Margaret Cox, Kendall Wagner, Joshua Wilkinson and nurse practitioners Sarah Anderson, Demi Nesbitt, Corey Pickle and Mandi Williams.
“I’m excited to work with other physicians who trained like I trained,” she said of internal medicine and pediatrics. “I’ve loved primary care and caring for the entire family and watching them grow.”
Dr. Merle is available for appointments at Mercy Clinic Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, 7800 Dallas St., Fort Smith. The phone number is 479-314-4940.
