She’s lived all over the world, but the new administrator for Mercy Hospital Berryville says Arkansas is home.
VonDa Moore comes to Berryville from Drew Memorial Health System in Monticello, Arkansas, where she served as chief nursing officer. “The move to Berryville is very intentional for me,” she said. “I want to be in Northwest Arkansas and in a community with similar values to mine growing up. I was raised in a rural Oklahoma community and I look forward to making connections here, putting down roots, serving and making a difference.”
Before putting down those roots, Moore served in some pretty unique places, including Hawaii and Saudi Arabia. “After finishing school, I was thinking about doing some mission work,” she said. “That’s when I got the opportunity to help set up a hospital in Saudi Arabia. They were learning how to run a health care facility and each of their leaders paired with a Western counterpart for help. I was in charge of nursing, which was very fulfilling, because they had such a strong desire to provide quality care. I also learned a lot working in a multi-national community. I enjoy people and believe we can learn a lot from each other.”
Just a few weeks into her new job, Moore says she’s already impressed with what she sees. “There are great people everywhere,” she said. “The level of professionalism within Mercy is superior and truly appreciated. The community has also been open and helpful as well. The Ozarks is a place of beauty, and I have found the organization I work in and the people in this community to be the same. It’s such a blessing.”
