The local community may have already known it, but now the entire state of Missouri has learned about the dedication of the volunteers at Mercy Hospital Lebanon.
The Missouri Association of Hospital Auxiliaries has named Mercy Hospital Lebanon Auxiliary as the “Auxiliary of the Year” for hospitals with 31 to 100 licensed beds.
From June 2017 to May 2018, the auxiliary’s 39 members dedicated almost 10,000 volunteer hours in the hospital, providing assistance to community members and raising money through the gift shop and various sales. During the same time, the auxiliary completed its pledge of $100,000 for a reflection garden outside the new chapel at Mercy Hospital Lebanon, contributed another $15,000 to hospital programs, and provided $4,000 in scholarships. While that might be enough for any other group, Mercy Lebanon’s auxiliary is already looking ahead and has pledged another $125,000 for a new labor and delivery family waiting area.
“I am always amazed by the energy and enthusiasm of our auxiliary members,” said Karen Simpson-Neasby, executive director of Mercy Health Foundation Lebanon. “They are completely dedicated to caring for our community. They greet visitors with cheerful smiles, give directions, and plan fundraising events so they can meet future needs. They are truly a blessing to us all. They definitely deserve this recognition.”
