Six Mercy Urgent Care locations in Jefferson and south St. Louis counties are now offering Express Check-In for patients who prefer to wait at home to see the doctor rather than in the urgent care waiting room.
Locations in Arnold, Fenton, Festus, Imperial, Kirkwood and Lemay now have online registration available. Patients may go to mercy.net select their local urgent care and choose the Check in Now icon. The computer holds their place in line for the next available time or allows them to schedule later in the day.
The online registration requires the patient name, date of birth, gender, telephone number and email address. Patients are also asked to provide a brief description of the patient’s symptoms.
“It’s that easy. Once they submit the form, they receive a text confirmation that the patient is added to the schedule,” said Kim Vance, manager for Mercy Urgent Care in Festus and Imperial. “When the patient arrives, their registration is finalized, and our goal is to have them in an examine room in less than 20 minutes.”
The online registration also includes options for entering insurance information so that step can be completed in advance. Patients are advised not to use the urgent care or online registration for life-threatening conditions.
“The system does not allow symptoms like chest pain which may require more of an emergent response, instead it directs them to go to the nearest emergency department,” Vance said. “Online check-in allows the patient to wait at home or other location that is most convenient for them.”
