Women in the Springfield area who need immediate obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN) care can easily get it, as Mercy adds two new doctors and opens a new clinic location.
The community is invited to meet Drs. Jessica Windschitl and Charles Albritton during a blessing and ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. on Nov. 6, 2019. Tours of the new clinic space will follow until 6 p.m. Mercy Clinic OB/GYN – Seminole/Fremont is located on the second floor at 2135 S. Fremont Ave. in Springfield. The two new doctors join established physician Dr. Juliette Gibbons and nurse practitioner Shayla Crawford.
“We know the addition of these talented doctors will be welcome news to women in our area,” said Rob Heen, chief operating officer of Mercy Clinic Springfield Communities. “Whether women are learning they are newly pregnant or have a health concern, they shouldn’t wait to get the proper care.”
Dr. Albritton grew up in Springfield and saw firsthand through his father’s practice how interesting a health care career would be. “He’s a doctor, so I’ve been around medicine my whole life,” Dr. Albritton said. “I can’t tell you how many times I had people come up to me and tell me how big of a difference my dad made in their life. Seeing that impact pushed me toward the field. I decided in high school it was the career I wanted to pursue.”
Dr. Albritton is particularly passionate about helping women manage chronic conditions and navigating patients through high-risk pregnancies. “I want every baby to arrive with the best chance at a wonderful future,” he said.
Dr. Windschitl grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. “I chose to move to Springfield because of its genuine friendly, small-town feel,” she said. “I love the abundance of activities nearby, and it’s just a few hours from my family.”
Dr. Windschitl began her career helping women through pregnancy and birth as a doula. “That time solidified my interest in women’s health care and motivated me to complete my medical degree to I could provide support to women not only during childbirth, but through all stages of their lives,” she said. Dr. Windschitl also offers minimally-invasive gynecological surgery.
Dr. Gibbons has been with Mercy for 27 years and has delivered more than 5,500 babies in that time. “It’s been fun to watch those children grow up,” she said. “I’ve been here long enough now that I’ve even delivered some of those babies’ babies.” In addition, Dr. Gibbons is skilled at minimally invasive surgery for other gynecological needs.
