Dr. Schuster received her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, where she also completed her residency training. She was chief resident of the program from 2016 to 2017 and became a faculty member in 2018. Most recently, Dr. Schuster worked for the University of Missouri Hospital and Clinics in Fayette, Mo. She is excited to bring her training and skills to Cuba, a community similar to her hometown of Pilot Grove, Mo.
“Growing up in a small town of about 800 people made me aware of the challenges and health disparities felt by people in rural areas,” said Dr. Schuster. “I went into medicine to become a doctor in a rural community. The most rewarding part of my day is when patients tell me how grateful they are to have me in their community. It really reinforces my career choice.”
“One of my favorite parts of family medicine is getting to take care of multiple generations of the same family,” she said. “It also gives me a unique opportunity to understand the patient and their individual needs on a personal and professional level, which keeps my job interesting and fulfilling.”
