Aswanth Reddy, MD, joined the team at Mercy Clinic Oncology – Fort Smith on Aug. 3.
Dr. Reddy received his doctorate from Chengalpattu Medical College in India and served his residency in internal medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, Massachusetts. He spent consult rotations at Saint Vincent Hospital, Boston Medical Center and Tufts Medical Center before his fellowship. He received a fellowship in hematology and oncology from the University of Connecticut Health, which involved working at three different hospital systems in the greater Hartford area. He played a key role on the thoracic oncology team at UCONN Health cancer center.
Dr. Reddy holds several professional memberships, including the American College of Physicians, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Society of Hematology, International Society of Thrombosis and American Medical Association.
Dr. Reddy said he hopes to carry on Mercy’s mission by delivering quality care to his patients.
“Cancer touches everyone’s life through friends or family,” he said. “I also experienced that by the loss of a family member, which motivated me to get into oncology.”
Dr. Reddy is married to Mercy Fort Smith cardiologist Dr. Aswini Kumar, and they have an infant daughter, Sasha. They live in Fort Smith.
