Mercy locations in Fort Smith and Northwest Arkansas are extending live stream Medicare seminars into December to offer help for those aging into the program and those who want to take advantage of the annual enrollment period, which begins Oct. 15.
Medicare – Getting Started is a free educational seminar that will be livestreamed for safety and convenience while social distancing efforts remain in effect. In-person sessions have also resumed, where licensed, independent insurance agents will:
- Evaluate your current coverage.
- Discuss your current and future needs.
- Present your options clearly and simply.
- Help you choose the plan that gives you the best coverage at the best rate.

Livestream sessions will include information on Parts A & B and Part D (prescription coverage) and the differences between Part C (Medicare Advantage) and Medicare Supplement insurance plans. The seminars are also beneficial for those already enrolled in Medicare who have experienced health, financial or other changes and may need to change their coverage.
The livestream seminars are scheduled on the following dates:

- Oct. 20
- Nov. 3
- Nov. 17
- Dec. 1
- Dec. 15
“Medicare annual enrollment is a crucial time for people who are enrolled in Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan,” said Kevin Moran, Arkansas’ director of payor relations and contracting with Mercy. “During the Medicare annual election period, you can change your existing plan, which may lower the cost of your medical insurance, prescription drugs and preventive care.
“Mercy wants you to have the best Medicare coverage possible, so we are hosting free informational sessions with licensed, independent insurance agents who can help you choose the best coverage at the best rate,” Moran continued.
