Quality Measures

  • In 2015, 22% of all stroke patients receive IV tPA at Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City.
  • Of patients receiving IV tPA in 2015, 91% received treatment within 60 minutes of arrival and 64% received it within 45 minutes.
  • Of patients receiving IV tPA for a stroke in both 2014 and 2015, none had symptomatic hemorrhages. The national average for symptomatic intracranial hemorrhages following IV tPA is 4-6%. 
  • In 2015, Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City performed more than 400 diagnostic angiograms and had no strokes or deaths related to this procedure. (Goal = less than 1%)
  • Stroke and death rates following carotid stenting and carotid endarterectomy are 0% for the past three years. (Goal = less than 3%)


Nationally around 40% of patients receiving stroke treatment are independent 3 months after their stroke. At Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City for patients treated from 2012-2014, 52% of all treated stroke patients are independent and able to live at home following their stroke.

Complex Stroke Treatment Since 2012

  • We have treated over 140 aneurysms.
  • We have had no stroke or death complications following carotid stent and carotid endarterectomy procedures.
  • With over 900 diagnostic angiograms, there has been a stroke rate of less than 1% (0.9%) and no deaths.
