We are proud to be partnering with Via Christi to serve this region. Market research shows that Pittsburg – like many other rural communities – is underserved by primary care physicians, leading to Kansas residents having to travel out of the area to receive basic care. Via Christi and Mercy believe that by working together, we will be able to better meet the challenge of attracting primary care physicians to this community while achieving our shared goals of population health management and improved community health.
Ultimately, our vision is to create a regional, clinically integrated system of care that improves access to essential healthcare services and delivers the highest quality of care to residents of southeastern Kansas and the surrounding area.
To meet the medical needs of all patients in the Pittsburg area, Via Christi Hospital and Mercy Hospital Joplin will coordinate in providing any follow-up diagnostic testing or specialty care services our patients need. We appreciate the trust and commitment of our physicians, nurses and care givers and look forward to serving the community together for years to come.
The Via Christi Mercy Clinic is in a temporary location until completion of a building under construction in 2017. The new clinic, expected to open in fall 2017, will be 13,600 square feet and accommodate six to 10 providers with 30 exam rooms, physician offices, X-ray services, a lab and a dedicated nurses’ work area.
