Freedom from Smoking

Mercy Hospital St. Louis offers Freedom from Smoking courses to community members. Not only can you put years back onto your life and prevent health complications, but smokers could save nearly $2,000 a year by kicking the habit.

Freedom from Smoking, developed by the American Lung Association, was recently named “Most Effective” in a study of 100 managed care organizations. Mercy's class is taught by registered nurses and respiratory therapists.

Small groups will meet once a week for seven weeks to:

  • Learn how to prepare to quit
  • Establish a Quit Day
  • Develop the skills to remain smoke-free
  • Find support for maintaining a smoke-free lifestyle

The course fee is $90 and may be covered by insurance. Call for more information.

Freedom from Smoking is offered at Mercy Heart Hospital, 625 South New Ballas Road in St. Louis, and at other area locations throughout the year.

For more information on upcoming class schedules, please call 314-251-3965.

Auriculotherapy

In addition to Freedom from Smoking, Mercy also offers Auriculotherapy treatment as an option to smoking cessation. Auriculotherapy is an electroacupuncture of the ear. It targets the addictive centers of the brain and helps patients get over the cravings and withdrawal symptoms that often are the reason they go back to smoking with other methods.

Mercy offers Auriculotherapy at three locations in the St. Louis area. Call the locations nearest you for more information.
