Mercy Breast Center - Coletta in Oklahoma City, OK was the first facility in the state to acquire digital mammography and the first to incorporate breast MRI into routine, clinical practice, and now we are offering 3D mammography with low dose radiation.

We have one of the most active research centers in the United States, performing clinical trials and helping pioneer innovations like a unique blood screen that tests for early-stage breast cancer that even mammography can’t detect.
It’s this type of research, along with our dedicated breast surgeons, and detection, treatment and prevention programs, that make Mercy Breast Center - Coletta so effective in fighting breast cancer.
Mercy maintains a robust oncology clinical trials program that works to develop new and unprecedented cancer treatments and technologies. Patient participation is an important part of this program and we welcome your interest in our research on treatments for breast cancer. Dr. Hollingsworth, our Breast Center Medical Director, has spent more than three decades dedicating his medical practice to breast health and research.
You have the opportunity to join Oklahoma’s largest breast screening study ever. At your next mammogram, please ask to take part in our current breast cancer screening study, using results from your normal mammogram. This study is sponsored by the National Cancer Institute, with Mercy Hospital Oklahoma City and Oklahoma University Medicine.

Dr. Alan Hollingsworth, MD, medical director of Mercy Breast Center - Coletta, states that if a woman detects breast cancer while it’s still half an inch or less in size, her chance of survival can be more than 90%. However, tumors this size can’t be felt, making mammograms vital for early detection.
Unfortunately, for many uninsured and underinsured women, an annual mammogram is simply out of reach. But thanks to a program called Project Early Detection, more and more women are receiving the mammograms and related diagnostic procedures they need.
Project Early Detection provides breast health services for women who are uninsured and underinsured. This includes breast health screenings, diagnostic procedures, appropriate treatment referral and education. The success of this program is due to the partnerships and collaborations of local radiologists, physicians, free clinics, Susan G. Komen Central and Western Oklahoma and Mercy. For more information about Project Early Detection, call (405) 963-5455.
Mercy Health Foundation in Oklahoma City is committed to supporting breast health services & Project Early Detection. Your gifts allow us to continue to bring transformative advancements to your friends & neighbors.
