BotoxTM has recently been approved by the U.S. FDA for the preventive treatment of chronic migraine, a type of highly frequent migraine in which patients have headache at least 15 days a month. Patients who have tried the existing prophylactic medications and still have frequent migraines may benefit from Botox injections, and this is now covered by almost all insurers. An additional advantage of using Botox is that it is only very rarely associated with any systemic side effects.
