Welcome to Mercy Health Foundation! Since 1984, we have worked to improve the quality of life in northwest Arkansas through projects that benefit health care and education in our community.
As we look back, 20 years ago, the seeds of a long-term strategy were planned. The 50-year-old St. Mary’s facility could not serve the growing and changing needs of the region. With community support, we developed a new $140 million medical campus. We had a foundation to build on!
In 2016, we embarked on a multi-year expansion to produce exponential, systemic change. Our theme for this effort – Opening Doors: Our Commitment Continues – is not only descriptive but also hopeful of what we believe we can accomplish, together with the community.
Currently, health remains a vital element of community infrastructure. Over the next 10 years, Mercy will address three main pillars: (1) Access to and Quality of Healthcare, (2) Economic Development, and (3) Quality of Life with emphasis on the poor and disenfranchised.
The most effective response is three-fold, involving facilities and people:
This current effort, represents a $247 million investment, with a significant portion of this reliant on the generous support of the Northwest Arkansas Community. If you value services like these, would you please consider a tax-deductible gift to Mercy Health Foundation? In addition to monetary donations, we welcome the assistance of volunteers to help us fulfill our mission of serving northwest Arkansas.

Our goal at Mercy is to provide an excellent patient experience; one that reaches beyond the patient, to their families and visitors alike. With more than 250 volunteers currently serving, every Mercy Volunteer plays a critical role in living our mission to provide compassionate care and exceptional service. Mercy’s Auxiliary has been a vital part of the hospital for over 50 years and we thank you for your desire to give back to our Northwest Arkansas community by volunteering at Mercy.
There are numerous volunteer positions in our facilities, which include the main hospital and several of our clinics. Volunteers assist by providing support at our information desks, Gift Shops, Patient Escort Services, Surgery Waiting, Clinical Settings, and other various departments.
We feel it is important to place our volunteers in areas of need, and will try to place you in an area that truly touches your heart. However, please keep in mind that volunteers commit to a minimum of one four hour shift per week, and are required to interview and attend orientation before beginning service. Additionally, volunteers are required to attend yearly training and to maintain health requirements.
Mercy has limited volunteer opportunities for teens during the school year and also offers a Summer Teen Program, which provides an opportunity for teens to experience serving in a healthcare environment for 6 weeks during the summer (this program has limited openings). Applications must be submitted to Volunteer Services 6 weeks prior to the end of the school year.
Update: as of May 2019 all summer teen volunteer positions have been filled. Please check back again next year.
Please contact Volunteer Services at 479-338-2188 with any questions.
Thank you for your interest in serving at Mercy. We look forward to meeting you!
