Shadowing at Mercy Hospital Springfield

Mercy Springfield Communities offers a variety of student/observation experiences.

  • A shadow/observation experience is for observation only without any hands-on interaction. It is limited to 40 hours or less (within one year) and you are not required to be enrolled in a school.
  • An individual learning experience is a hands-on experience (either clinical or non-clinical). This experience requires you to be enrolled in a school program unless you are seeking an unpaid internship or are a professional approved to do research at Mercy.

Mercy is unable to accommodate shadowing requests at this time. We will update any changes at mercy.net/students.

Medical Explorers

Mercy - Springfield Medical Explorer Post #339 is a youth health care career exploration program jointly sponsored by Mercy Hospital Springfield and the Boy Scouts of America Learning for Life program. The overall purpose of Medical Explorers is to provide worksite-based experiences for young men and women ages 15 through 20. Education through observation enables youth to make informed career decisions.
