Sisters Rosemary Welsh and Maria Luisa Vera of Mercy Ministries of Laredo were honored as Co-Presidents of the Republic of Rio Grande in Laredo for continuing the tradition of material and spiritual generosity provided to Laredo by the Sisters of Mercy since 1894. The Webb county Heritage Foundation bestows this honor annually to Laredoans who serve the community and preserve history.
