Healing Through the Arts

Mercy Healing Through the Arts program is a series of free art workshops designed to enhance healing for patients and their families. These services complement and integrate traditional medicine so a patient can navigate both treatment and recovery more easily.

Art Therapy

Art therapy is based on the belief that the creative process involved in artistic self-expression is both healing and life-enhancing. You don't need to be creative to participate. All that is required is a desire to learn and enjoy the adventure. In recent years, art has become a powerful tool for those coping with illness by providing a creative form of self-expression and a method for sharing stories of struggle, gratitude, anger, peace and healing. Mercy Healing Through the Arts is supported by the Mercy Health Foundation.

Adult Workshops

Adult workshops take place in the first floor Conference Room of the David C. Pratt Cancer Center. Workshops are free, but registration is required because space is limited. Participants receive all necessary materials at each session.

Children's Workshops

Children’s workshops are designated for children aged 5 and older. Workshops take place in the Child Life Room on floor 3C of Mercy Children’s Hospital. Parents may also participate in the workshop with an additional reservation.
