Mercy welcomes Dr. Yolette Louis to the hospital medicine program at Mercy Hospital Ada.
As a hospitalist, Louis provides specialized care to hospital patients and often serves as their primary doctor during hospital stays.
Hospitalists have knowledge of hospital staff, services and procedures that help them coordinate care with the patient’s primary care provider, handle emergencies, and address questions and concerns as they arise during a patient’s hospital stay.
“As a child I was sick; the compassionate care I was provided during my sickness inspired me to become a physician,” said Louis. “Practicing medicine allows me to connect with people and work with them as a partner in their treatment, empowering and educating each patient to be in charge of their own health.”
Louis comes to Mercy from Oklahoma City. Her fiancé, Charles McCubin, joins her in her move to Ada. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel and exercise.
Louis earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Florida International University in Miami. After 10 years as a registered nurse, she went on to earn her doctorate in medicine from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago, and completed her residency in internal medicine at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts.
