Mercy Pulmonary Function Testing - Springdale

Patients may be referred to Mercy Pulmonary Function Testing for a variety of reasons, including:

  • To determine the cause of breathing problems
  • To diagnose a lung condition, such as asthma or COPD 
  • To evaluate lung function before surgery
  • To monitor treatment for lung disease 

Our specialists care for adults and children by using a series of tests to accurately diagnose lung problems. Some of these tests include: 

  • Spirometry – measures the speed of air moving out of your lungs
  • Lung volumes – tests the amount of air your lungs can hold
  • Diffusion capacity – measures the rate that oxygen absorbs into your bloodstream
  • Oxygen walk – tests your need for supplemental oxygen with physical activity
  • Methacholine challenge – tests for asthma
