History of Mercy in Ada

History & Heritage

1930s

The original 64-bed hospital, built for $300,000, was partially financed by the Commonwealth Fund of New York City, which donated $165,000 toward the construction costs. Major expansion and renovation projects would be completed in the following decades.

1951

The original home for the nurses was converted into a maternity hospital.

1958

The hospital was expanded with a larger kitchen and eight additional private rooms.

1960

A rehabilitation complex was added and the general hospital was again expanded.

1968

Expansion efforts culminated in the construction of the northwest wing in 1968, bringing Valley View Hospital to a 200-bed capacity. 

1984

A $13 million dollar construction project began in 1984 to replace the 48-year-old Valley View Hospital. The new 200-bed construction, located at 430 N Manta Vista, took two years to build.

2009

In 2009, Valley View Regional Hospital entered a management agreement with Mercy.

2013

On July 1, 2013, Mercy Health System leased Valley View Regional Hospital and the name was changed to Mercy Hospital Ada.

2019

With funding from Mercy, the Mercy Auxiliary, the Mercy Foundation and the Valley View Foundation, a new $3 million dollar front entrance and patient registration area were completed in 2019.
