About John Francis Spivey, MD

Care Philosophy I was born and raised in St. Louis. My professional goals are to treat children with both acute and chronic pulmonary issues. I too have asthma, so I understand pediatric asthma on a personal and professional level. My professional interests include childhood asthma and allergic diseases, sleep-disordered breathing, pediatric sleep, chronic cough, exercise physiology, cystic fibrosis, sickle-cell lung disease, and premature lung disease. It is a privilege to practice medicine here at Mercy Clinic and help serve my community.

Dr. Spivey is wonderful. Because my daughter is autistic I "came prepared to be judged" due to her sleep schedule and screen time. However, Dr. Spivey was so kind and actually understood what we have been going through. Many doctors don't understand that we have tried everything and brush us off that we need to be more strong willed than she is and power through it, and that's just not how autism works. Although Dr. Spivey was not able to help much, I am very appreciative for his kindness and understanding.

This doctor was so caring and genuine, he made me feel like my child was important to him. I can't say enough good things about his male nurse as well. We see him with our other doctor and he is amazing. Always personable, funny, engaging, and on it with everything medical. He's sincerely one of the best we've ever experienced, and we have seen many healthcare professionals as a military family.
