About Serena Suzanne Mitroo, MD

Care Philosophy I chose to go into medicine as a teenager because I had family members who were ill. I thought it was a very noble profession to take care of somebody and help them when they're ill, hopefully heal them, but if not, at least comfort them. What I love about internal medicine is that it encompasses the whole patient. You care for patients from their youth throughout their whole life, so you see a lot of their health conditions. You care for the whole person for the whole lifetime. Several different things motivate me: when patients improve and because I could help them and positively change their course of their lives; figuring out what's wrong with somebody and helping heal them. The most gratifying part of medicine is having a long-time patient who refers their friends, who continues to see me, who feels that I give them good care and who knows I care about them and will do my best to take care of them.

We followed Dr. Mitroo with her change to Mercy because we think she really cares about our over all health and getting us the specialized care we need. S She is easy to talk to and takes the time needed to listen to our complicated health issues. She is very compassionate.

I'd follow Dr Mitroo anywhere she'd go as I love her so much! I got my husband, sister and her husband to go to her at Norman and they too feel confident in the care they receive like I do. I trust her totally as she is very knowledgeable, compassionate, caring and has the best bedside manner. I cried my eyes out when I received the letter she was leaving Norman. What a relief to know she is still in the area. She goes above and beyond for you to try to get to the bottom of health issues. You are NEVER RUSHED with her. I'm so grateful that she's my dr and know she will always give me the best care till the Lord calls me home. I had to work hard at not just breaking down to cry when I saw her in the new office as it was a wonderful relief just to see her face. I don't think you realize how awesome this Dr is and that she is with you at Mercy. I've had a lot of drs and mainly internists but she's been the best one of all and I hope she never moves out of state. How fortunate that we have the top Dr so close to us. I can't remember how many years I've been with her but I know it's got to be over 10 years now. Mercy won the jackpot when you got her on your team! I've never been upset or questioned her about my care. She's smart as a whip with a huge heart that loves her patients like none other. She listens well to you and will run tests to rule out anything that could cause you problems with your health. There is no other Dr that I trust more than her and that is a great compliment as I see a lot of specialists. I could write a book about her as she's a 5 star doctor. I really loved her new nurse too as she was extra sweet and efficient. Brittany was a lovely young lady that I look forward to knowing better as time goes on. The receptionists greeted me with a big smile and was friendly like her nurse. I was sad to leave behind all the staff at her former office but I felt very cared for by her staff at this office too. I'm so grateful and blessed to be a patient here. You just couldn't find any Dr better than Dr Mitroo! Show her love and appreciation as she represents Mercy well...
