About Shawnie Allison Rich, APRN-CNM

Care Philosophy I chose to go into nursing and midwifery after shadowing my aunt when I was younger. She's a pediatric oncology nurse, and even though I didn't go into that field, I watched nurses care for patients at their most vulnerable. As a midwife and labor and delivery nurse, I see women in very private and vulnerable states and help them welcome a new member to their families. What motivates me most are past patients and remembering different interactions I've had, as a labor nurse over the last nine years, patients and families I've cared for in their happiest and saddest times. Those memories motivated me to go back to school, become a midwife and continue caring for women. I want my patients to know that midwifery goes beyond delivering babies. It includes GYN care, women's health, including mental health care. I want women in the city to know they can come to us at all stages of life.

        I am beyond grateful for being able to transfer to the midwifery clinic. Everyone there is very attentive and the midwives are knowledgeable and accepting. I am so excited to have my beautiful natural birth in this loving, calm environment.

        My experience at the Love Family Women's center was absolutely exceptional! The providers and staff made sure that all of my concerns were heard; as well as reassured and informed my husband and myself when we had any questions! I also love that they allow the choices of your birth to be exactly what you decide! (As long as baby and yourself are healthy of course!) This center is absolutely amazing and we will continue to use them!

        As always, the entire group of y'all is AMAZING and I'm so blessed to have met every single one of you, I feel very lucky to have you guys as my midwife team! All are sweet and compassionate and have a great sense of humor, which is important, especially when a potential complication arises. You guys are amazing!
