Neurology is a fascinating field. Helping patients discover what is wrong with them is like following a treasure map, walking through the path of their bodies and central or peripheral nervous systems. I get most of my clues from listening to my patients, so that is the most important part of my job. Many of my patients come to me frustrated because they are in pain or because they can't find a solution to their problem. So I listen. Very often, the history they provide of their symptoms will contain the nugget of information that leads to a possible diagnosis that I can then confirm with tests and treatment. Communication is the key in patient and physician relationships.
