Dr. Cierra Wandro is a pediatrician who recently joined Mercy Clinic Pediatrics – Old Tesson Suite 160 and Mercy Clinic Pediatrics – Arnold. The start of her Mercy career is just one major beginning for her this year, as she and her husband had their first child earlier this year. Like many of her patient families, she’s excited about what life as a parent will bring to her and how it will help her relate as her patients grow up alongside her own child.
Did you always know you wanted to be a doctor?
Even at a young age, I always knew I wanted to work with children. Once I started my higher education and into college, I realized I enjoyed learning about the world of medicine and how the body works. Using this knowledge, I knew being a pediatrician would be a perfect fit for me.
What drew you to your specialty?
During medical school, you get the opportunity to spend time learning and studying many different specialties. I tried to keep an open mind during these experiences, but after my short time on my pediatric rotation, I knew this was the best fit for me. Working with children just brings such joy to my every day experience at work. Children are much stronger and resilient then they often get credit for and watching them recover from an illness, develop and grow never ceases to amaze me.
What made you want to join Mercy?
I received my training in the St. Louis area, and after spending three years here, it has become home to my family and me. Then when an opportunity opened up at Mercy and I went on my interviews, it seemed to be exactly what I wanted for my next career move. Mercy has been very welcoming to me, and I feel supported every day.
